Early Life and Career
Anukul Roy was born on November 30, 1998, in Midnapore, West Bengal, India. His passion for cricket ignited at a young age, and he quickly rose through the ranks of local cricket circuits.
Roy made his first-class debut for Jharkhand in 2017 in the Ranji Trophy. He showcased his skills as a left-arm orthodox spinner and a handy lower-order batsman. His consistent performances earned him a spot in the India under-19 squad.
During the 2018 ICC Under-19 World Cup, Anukul Roy emerged as a crucial player for the Indian team. His remarkable performance with both bat and ball played a pivotal role in India’s victorious campaign. Roy finished as the joint-highest wicket-taker in the tournament, claiming 14 wickets at an impressive average.
Following his impressive under-19 World Cup stint, Anukul Roy was picked up by the Mumbai Indians in the 2018 IPL auction.
